Kat Schilke Santa Fe, New Mexico USA
Bio: Originally from Indiana, I moved to Colorado in the early 80’s and then to New Mexico. When I moved west my interest in the Mountain Man reenactments kicked into high gear. Creating my costume and accessories for my “LOOK” became an outlet for my creative juices. One thing leads to another and then you just have to sell what you make to be able to make more. Totally self-taught in several disciplines (bead work, leatherwork, costume design, painting, cooking).
I have always relied on my sewing skills as an outlet for my creative juices and for the past year and a half I have been developing a line of handbags and totes with a decidedly Southwestern feel. Searching the net and local flea markets for retired Navajo textiles, horse tack and all kinds of bits and pieces … “BLING “.. I call it I have developed a line of handbags and totes. Each bag is a one of a kind offering and I use every inch of the rugs to create beauty out of the CHAOS. The line is called Ooo So Santa Fe and is available directly or if you are in Santa Fe you can find me in the winter at Trader Walts flea market in the railyard district of Santa Fe, NM . You can find me on: Face Book https://www.facebook.com/OooSoSantaFe Pinteresthttp://pinterest.com/kat87501/ooo-so-santa-fe-one/ Email me if you find yourself in Santa Fe and want to stop by my lovely studio. I also always just have a little bit of this and a little bit of that laying around. Or a pot of something on the stove.
