Ooo So Santa Fe ….Style …People….. Food … of Santa Fe.
I remember the first time I visited Santa Fe,New Mexico. It was in the mid 90’s tagging along on “Broom Stick Skirt” of my then Landlady and friend Isabel. She and I had taken up the hobby of Mountain man Rondyvouzzz to meet guys. All we really found was some really great times and a few hangovers and stories to tell. We both learned a lot about making our own clothes for our historical reenactment “LOOK”…. Learning Bead work, making my own leather clothing just added to the already bulging out of the box set of skills I had in my possession.
She and I landed in Santa Fe. I had found at a yard sale a blanket/rug that was a Navajo weaving that we were showing around to dealers. I ended up trading that rug for an amazing Sterling Silver Concho Belt, Navajo rosette bracelet and a few dollars… well more than a few dollars.
After that visit I knew I had to move to NM, the vibe there was more suited to me and such a visual change from the narrow valley of Vail,CO.
So in 1997 I moved to Taos,New Mexico from Vail, Co and that is how it all began. My love of this region its history, food, art and the people I have met.
Here I go to try and make some sense writing my thoughts (God Forbid) and my experiences. SO bear with me, I don’t type very fast or spell well or have any kind of grip on that THANG called GRAMMER … But I do like to take pictures of what I cook, the people I meet and the handbags I make out of old retired Navajo Rugs and Blankets and tell you about them.
